TheGreen Lantern Corps has been destroyed , Superman is being drawn to Warworld , and Jonathan Kent is being prepare up as his switch .
But noFuture Statestory was more troubling than Gotham ’s , which showed a timeline in which Batman had failed utterly . The metropolis had turned on Batman and his fellow vigilantes , with the city manager foolishly turning patrol over to a fascistic grouping called the Magistrate . And that future is indeed coming to pass mightily now in James Tynion IV and Jorge Jimenez’sBatmanrun , with the betting odds against the Dark Knight build up every single issuing . Now , he has just one luck to turn things around .

Scarecrow has been working with the Magistrate to generate fear across Gotham , with a terrorist attack leading to Mayor Nakano unleashing Peacekeeper-001 andhis forces on the Unsanity Collective . The penis of this group are simply scapegoat , but when Batman and his allies hurry to their defense they are seen by the public as traitor , possibly brainwashed by Gotham ’s latest " villains . " Effective immediately , Nakano flourish the government agency of the Magistrate to strip all costumed crime and vigilantism in Gotham City . Batman ’s reputation is in tatter , theFuture Statetimeline appear to be becoming a realism , but the Dark Knight still has one scene left - if he can capture Scarecrow and reveal the truth to the metropolis .
Ironically , Batman ’s greatest friend in all this may well be the Scarecrow himself . Dr. Jonathan Crane was always trance by fear - his pre - Scarecrow theories revolutionise Batman ’s own method - but now he has brought an intact city to its knees . This power seems to have gone to his head , and he is turning against the Magistrate , even usinghis dread Toxin on Peacekeeper-001 . Scarecrow ’s vision of the future is undoubtedly even more terrifying than the Magistrate ’s , but Batman may well be capable to play the two against one another . It ’s renowned that Scarecrow ’s increasing ambition already deviates from theFuture Statetimeline - and that deflection cater an opportunity .
But even if he defeats both the Magistrate and Scarecrow , Batmanfaces an almost impossible challenge . He must repair his tattered repute , and somehow he must convince Gotham to commit him and sense safe once again . It feels as though the metropolis has passed a turn point , and there is nothing good in any of Gotham ’s futures .
