In the latest issue of DC’sRobin , Damian Wayne is training with one of his Church Father Batman ’s chief nemeses : Ra ’s al Ghul , the Demon ’s Head and Damian ’s own grandfather . In the midst of the former Robin ’s readying for the upcoming Lazarus Tournament , Damian has found himself on the same island where al Ghul has been in ego - imposed expatriate , seek to learn from his recent failures at the manpower of Batman and the Outsiders . However , it seems as though the Demon ’s Head is keen to cultivate his grandson in the way of the mind , help Damian to let go of his personal limitations that have been holding him back from being the good warrior he can be .
In previous issues ofRobin , Damian lost a fight with his primary competition Conner Hawke , the son of the Green Arrow , in the Tournament ’s preliminary duels . However , Damian was saved by his old friend andpet dragon bat Goliathwho took him to a nearby island where none other than his grandfather Ra ’s al Ghul was residing , offering to provide his grandson with new teaching in the unexampled issue from writer Joshua Williamson and artist Jorge Corona .

Not having much of a choice due to his consistence needing sentence to mend , Damian presently begins learning from Ra ’s al Ghul on how to well train his judgement for battle , despite his grandfather ’s good word that he bide far aside from the League of Lazarus and their Tournament . However , Damian is stubborn and decide to learn about this mathematical group that has been hidden from him for his full life . As a result , the Son of Batman begins learningfrom the Demon ’s Head , one of the Dark Knight ’s great foe . That being said , al Ghul ’s teachings seem to be quite beneficial for the former Robin .
Not only that , but Damian ’s grandfather reveals some key information about himself , including the valuable view that he does n’t see Batman as his enceinte opposition . Instead , Ra ’s al Ghul ’s greatest opponent is Ra ’s al Ghul , believe himself to be his own worst enemy . He also sees the same inner fight within his grandson Damian as well , and this is apparently the most significant lesson he wants Damian to get wind .
give Damian ’s twofold identity as the son of Batman and the successor to the Demon , combined with his current battle for identity and estrangement from his father , it does seem as thoughRa ’s al Ghul ’s teachings are fairly criticalfor Damian ’s future as he settle what kind of person he want to become . In any lawsuit , Damian ascertain himself on Corto Maltese at the yield ’s end , investigating further into the dealing of the League of Lazarus just before the Tournament set out in earnest . Hopefully , Damian will recollect the guardianship ofRa ’s al Ghul , who in reality has valuable lessons to teach that will hopefully make the formerRobinthe honorable he can be in the DC Universe .
