Cobra Kai

Warning : This article contains SPOILERS forCobra Kaiseason 6 part 3!Cobra Kaimay have attain its triumphal decision , but one of the show ’s creators has revealed that they almost had a very dissimilar destiny in mind for a key character . With the decision to cleave the last season into three parts , season 6 part 3 ofThe Karate Kidsequel show recently made its debut on Netflix on February 13 . During the last moments of the show ’s penultimate instalment , “ hit Last ” , Martin Kove’sJohn Kreese confronted the nefarious Terry Silveraboard his opulence yacht , which would ultimately turn fatal as both characters were apparently killed in a fervent explosion .

You get laid the last musical rhythm of the “ Sweet Child of Mine ” montage that end on the Sports Illustrated ? Well , we had the tv camera drift further down the newsstand to find this other cartridge holder usher that Terry Silver ’s disappearance was still a mystery in the Valley .

We even take in it a tone further and had Martin Kove ’s paw reach in to plunk up the magazine , part for the .000001 % scenario we decide we want to imply that Kreese was still live , but more so just to entertain ourselves since we always jest around about how Kreese likes to fake his own death . ( Once we saw what the boat explosion look like , that minuscular opportunity we ’d practice the footage completely disappeared . 😂 )

At the oddment of the day , we wanted our finale to end triumphantly and with credibility — not with an absurd confirmation that somehow John Kreese outlast that fiery blast . We desire Johnny , Daniel , and the rest of the characters on our show to be last in a domain where there was no more danger of Silver or Kreese suddenly popping up and mess with their life again . We wanted happily ever after … or at least happily until a spinoff where there are impudent problems to contest with instead of the same monsters that have work havoc in the Miyagiverse for 40 years .

Yes , Cobra Kai Never go bad and no , we did n’t show the eubstance , so I suppose there ’s no proof that both human race are dead . But for the here and now , let ’s hold out in a macrocosm where there ’s actual licit karate peacetime in the Valley , because that ’s the story we intended and it feels so effective !

What Kreese’s Survival Would Have Meant For The Cobra Kai Series Finale

It Was His Sacrifice That Proved His Redemption

Right from the show ’s former sequence , Hurwitz and his fellow showrunners have repeatedly embraced salvation arcsfor several ofCobra Kai ’s primal eccentric . Not only is much of the show centered on the continued redemption of Johnny Lawrence and the fixing of his once pregnant relationship with Daniel LaRusso , but several incompatible relationship would all come to be healed throughout the show ’s critically acclaimed running . Nowhere did this become more unmistakable than in time of year 6 part 3 , and Kreese ’s realisation of the harm that he had repeatedly visit on his former student .

Cobra Kai time of year 6 ends on a solid greenback by bringing a well - attack closure to the history of all its main character while leaving no loose threads .

As one of the key recurring villains throughout thepreviousCobra Kaiseasons , the show ’s next-to-last instalment prove that even some ofthe most unlikely character could still atone for their past misbehavior . Given Kreese ’s last - minute alteration of heart , many fans probably would have openly embrace his continued survival , no matter how unlikely . However , it was the sacrifice he made in giving his lifetime to prevent Silver from undermine Johnny ’s mate and position his family ’s lives at risk that demonstrated that his motive were genuine , rather than simply another nefarious strategy he would after twist to his advantage .

Our Take On John Kreese & Terry Silver’s Continued Survival

Kreese Surviving Would Have Raised Other Questions

Had Hurwitz and his fellow showrunners determine to admit the shot of Kreese turn over for the magazine , there potentially would have been other significance beyond his own survival . While Kreese has proven himself capable of falsify his own death before , if he had scarper the blast , audience would have naturally questioned whether Silver could have too . And , while Kreese may have made amends with Johnny Lawrence , it is unconvincing that Silver would have been contented to lease Johnny’sSekai Takai wingo unquestioned .

Much as Hurwitz suggests , it was far more of import for theCobra Kaifinale to end on the same kind of triumphant note that the show owe to the originalKarate Kidmoviesfrom which it had sprung . While Kreese ’s survival may not have necessarily undersell that , give his own last - moment redemption , the threat of Silver ’s outflow would have allow for threads unanswered and take away from the show ’s otherwise fitting conclusion .
