In a revamped ancestry story , Darkseidcompletely humiliatedSupermanin a way that would makeThanosjealous . Though Superman and Darkseid are well - jazz enemies , this struggle absolutely proved that the Lord of Apokolips is one of Superman ’s greatest threats , easy swat him aside in an impressive show of tycoon .
TheSuperman Confidentialseries looked at many of Superman ’s former adventures in new and interesting ways . The issues were done by a wide-eyed variety of creatives , and # 8 by Dan Abnett , Andy Lanning , and Chris Batista focused on Superman ’s introduction to the Fourth World , specificallythe war between Apokolips and New Genesis . The characters themselves are never properly stick in , but the issue does a good Book of Job boiling the conflict down to its gist for new reader who might be confused with the recollective , convoluted history between the two worlds . The game is uncomplicated : Darkseid kidnapped Dreamer on Earth and Superman joins a squad from New Genesis to help get her back .

With the squad disquiet , Superman charges in to rescue Dreamer on his own . He ’s instantly meet with a single backhand stroke from Darkseid that smacks Superman straight to the level . To total insult to harm , Darksied calls him “ worm ” while doing so . For someone who is used to being the strongest in a battle , the attack catches Superman by surprisal . He does n’t even bother to try and plight Darkseid again . Superman just grabs Dreamer ’s unconscious soundbox and makes a break for it .
This first appearance for DC Comics ’ with child badness is a stark contrast from Thanos ’s back inIron Man # 55 . Like Darkseid , Thanos scantily appears in the issue . When he does , though , Thanos is check lark a bottomless tunic and codpiece . This was primarily due to a coloring error that gave Thanos ’s pants the same color as his skin . The result is that Thanos ’s introduction is probably a bit more unflattering than the Mad Titan would ’ve hop for . It is deserving noting , however , that Thanos accede the fit by also stomping ( and vanquish ) Iron Man ’s gantlet , which sure deserves some respect .
To further add to Darkseid ’s intimidate presentation , Superman Confidential # 8ends with Darkseid order his parademons to ego - destruct , destroying the adroitness he was working in while he safely left in a gravy tube . Once Dreamer was rescued , Darkseid saw no reason to rest on Earth . The fact that he just cut his losses by stimulate all of his minion kill themselves is pretty inhuman and bestow to his persona in this new line . This also leavesSupermanwith just a gustation of what ’s to comeas the conflict end for him with more questions than result , establishing why any superhero should fearDarkseidmore thanThanos .
