In DC Comics ' newRobin & Batmanseries , it ’s revealed thatthe first Robin Dick Graysonhad a chronicle with a classic Batman baddie long before he ever became the Dark Knight ’s ward . While this first issue sets the microscope stage for all the tensions and struggle Bruce Wayne and Dick had in their early relationship , it reckon like it will also pull back the curtain on Dick ’s childhood as a carnival acrobat with his parent .
InRobin & Batman#1from author Jeff Lemire and artist Dustin Nguyen , Dick Grayson is frustrate with Batman ’s decision to keep him from field mission , believing that he ’s not yet ready to join him in his campaign . However , it seems Dick would pray to differ . Despite Batman having Alfred destroy Dick ’s original black causa , the young Grayson decides to create his own costume , modeling it after his house ’s acrobat colors and taking the nickname his mother gave him : Robin . While it intelligibly carried a sentimental value , Dick also chose the bright colors for his Robin costume as he knew they would irritate his mentor .
