Warning : contains major spoilers forThe Joker Presents : A Puzzlebox Director ’s Cut # 5 !
There are unnumberable unique characters within DC ’s universe , but with so many characters , certain designs ca n’t aid but repeat themselves . The Joker Presents : A Puzzlebox Director ’s Cut # 5reveals a major design defect between a few unlike characters . How are DC ’s law enforcement or superheroes supposed to trance the correct villain when so many of them are just skeletal system ?
Designing characters involves a lot of different consideration and trying to nail down a look that can be iconic and easy recognisable can be rather unmanageable . However , DC has had success with this when it add up to their skillful heroes , like Superman , Batman , Wonder Woman , Green Lantern , and the Flash . They are all distinct . For characters like Director Bones , however , there can easily be some mix - ups .

The Joker Presents : A Puzzlebox Director ’s Cut # 5has the originative squad of Matthew Rosenberg , Jesus Merino , Dominike " Domo " Stanton , Ulisses Arreola , Mike Spicer , and Ferran Delgado . Joker is still telling Commissioner Gordon and Detective Bullock his story about the Riddler , meander around to sing about Black Mask and Two - font . In the Gotham City Police Department , other ship’s officer begin talking , allege Two - Face " hired that skeleton guy to help oneself him " . An officer inquires about three different potential perpetrators that oppose the description - andevery DC villain they guessis the incorrect one .
The police officer guesses Atomic Skull , Lord Death Man , and Director Bones . However , the existent baddie hired was Doctor Phosphorus . Yet all of these characters DO fit the verbal description of " skeleton guy " . When describing a suspect , specially where supervillains are concerned , unparalleled identity help . regrettably , these villains ' personal identity are anything BUT unequalled . They are all skeleton whose faces are skulls are indistinct . Doctor Phosphorus is radioactive , but his skull is n’t the only one that glow . Atomic Skull is also radioactive , though he glows a different color than Phosphorus does . Simply state , the " glowing skeleton guy " or " radioactive skeleton guy rope " would have been a little more helpful , nail down this field of DC villains downto two figures instead of the four in question . This is a relatively broad category . There have also been two villains in DC ’s story who have live on by the name " Skeleton " , though they have not been see in a while . This make them less likely to be on anyone ’s microwave radar at this point , which prevents any further confusion .
There are no bones about it , just like villain with water ice powers , there may be one too many skeleton villains in DC ’s macrocosm . The underframe - styled villains that are highly classifiable are Black Mask , Doctor Phosphorus , and Atomic Skull - butBlack Mask is well - known enoughby Gotham ’s dweller to just be called out by name directly . The other two can still be confused for one another easily enough . funnily in this example , however , is that the GCPD touch on first to Atomic Skull , but never to Doctor Phosphorus . Atomic Skull is typically a foe of Superman , while Doctor Phosphorus is Batman ’s foeman and would therefore spend more time in Gotham . It ’s easy enough for villains to cross city lines , but operating in one place should make it soft for locals to be aware of who they ’re go to be up against more regularly . Yet in this instance , that just does n’t seem to be the case . If any moreskeleton villains show up inDC Comics , things are only going to get even more confusing .
