It ’s unmortgaged Yarros always has the most fun when write Ridoc ’s lines , and more often than not she use his character as comedic moderation throughout her plot - heavy novel . And whileOnyx Storm ’s narrativemakes sure to show readers the more serious and sensitive side of Ridoc ’s grapheme , there are mountain of slap-up comedic one - liners that totally encompass his personality .
Ridoc plays a more big persona throughoutOnyx Storm , and as he joins Violet on the " quest squad " foreign mission , readers get to see more of his fictitious character than we have in previousEmpyrean Seriesnovels . Yarros makes sure to take vantage of this — using his persona as not only an outlet for comedic relief , but to come apart up the narrative ’s entropy dumps and foresightful stretch between high - stakes action panorama or major Apocalypse . It ’s clean-cut Yarros was aware Violet and Xaden ’s continued miscommunication throughoutIron Flamewasn’t well - received by readers and decided to use Ridoc ’s sarcastic nature to notice it .
However , it ’s Ridoc ’s delivery that really launch the citation its comedic appeal . And if it had come from Rhiannon or Sawyer , it would likely have postulate on a more serious tone . But Ridoc knows how to get a full point across , whilst being lighthearted , which makes his part all the more endearing .
