Danny : So for me , I was part of that fanbase and community that react to take care Kid Quick ! It was really exciting to just see a speedster that I relate to SO much ( although I ’ve always had a soft place for speedsters ! ) . With superheroes , just knowing that there ’s a non - binary superhero who share your grammatical gender identicalness opens doors , both creatively and in general . Jess just exist ! As non - binary ! There was n’t a discussion of this , or a dissection of their existence , and in some ways , that ’s still new on the mainstream funny page .
Ivan : That so many the great unwashed take over onto this part who was just on a couple of pages in a elephantine anthology one - shot was unbelievably cool . That the LGBTQIA+ community was so into Jess shows just how much appetency there was for an of import graphic symbol that was very much of that community . And as they ’ll hopefully see in the newfangled level , really suspicious .
How exciting is it to put the spotlight back on Jess and their Earth .
Ivan : I * love * Earth-11 , especially the agency Danny and I are approaching it . It ’s not " everything ’s the same except the pronouns , " we get to pick and choose some our favourite component from the DCU without worrying much about a great continuity . It ’s a freedom most writers of mainline DCU titles do n’t really have , and we ’re exploiting the hell out of it . We get all the best miniature .
Danny : I’m attempt to go beyond saying ‘ ditto mark to Ivan , ’ but frankly , being able to build off the archetypes of these heroes — Robins , Supes , Troy , and yes , obviously Kid Quick — but make a immense sandpit to spiel in is a dream hail rightful . We get to pave new ground AND create a legacy .
