Daddy issues have been a large part of the MCU , and now they ’re even wee their way intoPeacemaker . Peacemaker ’s beginner , Auggie Smith , is introduced as an emotionally abusive man who always berates his son and treats him like he ’s a loser . Not only that , but Auggie is also theNeo - Nazi supervillain White Dragon , so it ’s clear that he ’s been nothing but a electronegative influence on him . All of that together form it light that Peacemaker has a lot of emotional baggage thanks to his sire that will doubtless be explored throughout the show .
All of the play with Peacemaker ’s Padre has its roots in the comics , albeit in a dissimilar manner . In the comics , Auggie is Wolfgang Schmidt , a former Nazi who fled to America after the War and start a family with an American woman , only to defeat himself after his past was brought to light . This sort of writing matches up well with what ’s been done in the MCU , like how Tony ’s complicated relationship with his Father-God made it harder for him to make and maintain attachments , or how Quill ’s hunt for a don figure inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol . 2led to him discovering that family does n’t have to be biological . The MCU was n’t the first series to give character daddy topic andPeacemakerwon’t be the last to do it , but it ’s still interesting that they both decided to absorb on that area for their story .
