While Robin entered the occult tourney of hero to prove himself and look into the true motives of the new League of Lazarus , the prize of immortality is being offered as well , thanks to the ability of the supernatural healing waters that have long kept Damian ’s grandfather , Ra ’s Al Ghul , alive .
In previous issues ofRobinfrom writer Joshua Williamson and artist Gleb Melnikov , Damian battled in a serial of epic showdowns to the demise in the tournament where every fighter has three lives , their third death being the only one with permanence thanks to the Lazarus Pits . Ruled by Mother Soul , the leader of Lazarus Island has of late been revealed to be the mother of Ra ’s al Ghul ( making her Robin ’s majuscule - grandmother ) . Apparently , the island needs to bung on violence in decree to bestow off something very terrible , though Robin planned to stop the League of Lazarus before that could chance .

However , the son of Batman still has to fight the last contender : Connor Hawke . While the two had already fight previously ( where Damian lose ) , Robin still has one more death before his next one is permanent . Now , Robin # 8sees Robin and Connor square up off with one another with their wench namesakes superpose behind them , making for a visually larger-than-life affaire d’honneur . While they would have been equally pair , Robin ’s prior wounds resulted inHawke pose the upper hand , astonishingly obliterate Damian as a solution .
After this final fight , the son of the Green Arrow and champion of the League of Shadows has become the winner of the Lazarus Tournament ( with no one uncoerced to challenge him and hazard dying for good ) . However , it seems as though the promise of immortality at the end of the tournament might not be all it ’s crack up to be . believe that the issue ends with a literal demon coming from the depth of the island , things are belike going to take a turn for the worse specially after the monster kills Connor following the duel between thesons of Batman and Green Arrow .
While Robin comes back to living by the end of the issue , it seems likely that he alone wo n’t be enough to stop the daemon the League of Lazarus has bring forth . However , with both Leagues turning on all the preceding contenders Damian might be capable to unify his former rivals together to contend back now that the demon has possess Hawke ’s body . While the Lazarus Tournament might have finish , it ’s clear thatRobin’sfinal engagement on the island has yet to come .
