In previous issue from writer Brian Michael Bendis , both the League and the private espionage group Checkmate have been work together in the face of multiple distractions as well as the return of the organisation Leviathan . However , it ’s all men on deck when theRoyal Flush Gangsurprisingly slip Superman ’s Fortress of Solitude from mightily under his nose . Now , Justice League # 70from Bendis with art by Phil Hester see Superman furious and very determined to get his base back .

Interestingly enough , the Royal Flush Gang actually has a self-aggrandising account in intellect than just stealing the Fortress itself , betoken a bold new direction for the group of criminals . While they ’ve always been a simple work party of stealer bet for a heavy payday , Justice Leaguereveals that Mark Shaw offered them flattery , arrogate that the new world purchase order he was building with Leviathan could see the Royal Flash Gang takingthe place of the Justice League itself . As such , the Royal Flush Gang becomes motivated to slip the Fortress as part of a far grander strategy involving the various and fantastically dangerous alien technical school Superman stores within his Fortress ( of which there ’s alot ) .

Not only is it a monument to his lose homeworld of Krypton , but it also houses a monumental appeal of foreign biological samples , an intact zoological garden of exotic ( and deadly ) creatures , powerful weapon from all over the beetleweed as well as other dimensions , and many more artifact that should only ever be in the hands of the Man of Steel . Case in point , while it ’s still strange what the Royal Flush Gang specifically want within theFortress they stole from the Bermuda Triangle(its most recent home ) , they incidentally spread up a series of portals to other dimensions by the number ’s end .
This recent issue ofJustice Leagueserves as a great reminder of just how severe the Fortress of Solitude is in the untimely hands . As such , it seemsSupermanis going to have to seriously rethink how his Fortress is protected in the future , though it ’s likelyhe and theJustice Leagueare going to have to address with whatever get through the lately open portals first in the issues ahead .
